Known for her role as Aria Montgomery in Pretty Little Liars, Lucy Hale subscribes to a strict skincare and beauty regime. It’s obviously working for her because the 31-year-old actress has never looked better.

Part of her daily routine involves taking care of her luscious dark eyebrows. Not only does she never let anyone touch them, but she has a whole system down to make sure she looks her best before stepping foot out of the house.

Lucy Hale’s skincare and beauty regime

Hale recently explained her daily skincare and beauty regime for VogueShe gave a 25-step video tutorial on her everyday makeup and beauty secrets.

Hale is admittedly obsessed with keeping her skin clean. Every morning she uses a vitamin C wash and splashes her face with cold water, which helps to shrink pores and also wake her up. Hale said she struggled with severe cystic acne in her 20s, so now she likes to exfoliate regularly to keep it under control.

Some of the things she uses to keep her skin clear are LED therapy, a growth stem cell serum, and facial sheet masks. Hale says her friends laugh at her, but she swears by lip balm, saying that she is “100 percent a lip balm hoarder.”

When it comes to makeup, she uses a foundation that matches her skin tone and says that her staples consist of concealer, mascara, and brow gel. She likes to apply makeup every day.

Her favorite products are light pink colored eyeshadow to help her eyes pop, blush, highlighter, and lip liner. She likes to double up on liner on the bottom lip, with a thinner line on the top lip, to get a pouty look that works for her personality.

For her hair, she washes it the night before and then uses a dry shampoo in oily spots as part of her daily styling ritual. Hair products that Hale likes to keep on hand include a texture spray and water-based pomade.

A friend who once met Lucy Hale had two things to say about her. One: she’s really nice. Two: she’s super, super fit. Apparently, girlfriend is toned as hell.

“Oh that’s really nice to hear,” Hale says, genuinely chuffed, when I tell her this down the phone to Los Angeles, where she’s relaxing at home.

It’s clear that exercise matters to Hale, the recent star of horror movie Truth or Dare (out on DVD on August 15). So much so that she works out every single day.

“I’m one of the weirdos in the world that genuinely likes working out, not from a physical perspective, more from a mental aspect,” the 29-year-old explains.

“It’s a daily part of what I do. I work with a trainer and that will be an hour-long session, or I’ll do 45-minute spin classes or Pilates classes. It’s not a crazy amount, just a little bit every day.”

Somewhat unexpectedly, the 157-centimetre fitness fiend says the workout she finds most challenging is yoga.

Lucy Hale is starring in a new survival-thriller called “Borrego,” which started production earlier this month. In the film, Hale plays the role of a young botanist named Elly, fighting for her survival.

The description reads, “The film will begin with Elly relocating to a small desert town to study an invasive plant species. While out on research, she comes to the aid of a downed ultralight plane only to find herself taken captive by an inexperienced drug mule, played by Leynar Gómez.”

Hale frequently stars in suspenseful-horror films, and her most recent was “Fantasy Island,” a twisted retelling based on the original television series. Hale also starred in the 2018 film “Truth or Dare” as Olivia Barron, and as Sherrie in “Scream 4.”

“Borrego” will hope to tackle several topics while keeping viewers at the edge of their seats. The story involves drug trafficking and its human victims, as well as human trafficking and violence against women. It’s a lot for one thriller to tackle, but could help more viewers relate to Hale’s character and add to the suspense.

The studio added, “Gómez’ character forces Elly, out of desperation, to lead a trek across the sweltering desert to his drop. The local sheriff, played by Nicholas Gonzalez, is drawn into the hunt as his rebellious daughter, Alex (Olivia Trujillo), sets out to find the missing botanist, all while being pursued by the local drug receiver, played by Jorge A. Jiménez.”

The movie is based on Jesse Harris’ critically acclaimed short film, “Wind in the Night.” That film focuses on a man protecting his family as he struggles with moral complications after the Mexican cartel orders him to become a drug receiver in America. Fans of the genre are encouraged to watch that short-film ahead of “Borrego,” to get a sense of the upcoming film’s style and direction.

Brothers Damiano and Tiziano Tucci of Tucci & Company are producing “Boreggo,” and hope to release the film in 2021. Lucy Hale, known best for her role in Freeform’s “Pretty Little Liars” series, will be working alongside Tucci & Co. as an executive producer to bring Harris’ script to the big-screen. “Borrego” will be Tucci & Company’s second project filmed during the current health crisis.

The studio stopped short of announcing a release date at this time, and we don’t have a first-look trailer at the film yet, but Hale fans will want to keep this film on their radar. Hale is also set to star in Brian Petsos’ comedy-drama “Big Gold Brick” with Megan Fox and Oscar Isaac, as well as Peter Hutchings’ rom-com “The Hating Game” with Gina Torres and Yasha Jackson.

Lucy Hale is a dog person. The actress and singer is often photographed walking her 4-year-old Maltipoo, Elvis, around town and on set. Her Instagram bio consists of only two words: Elvis’ mama. “I know it sounds ridiculous, but he’s my soulmate,” Hale tells Woman’s Day. “He’s my best friend; I truly don’t know what I would do without him.” And it’s the love Hale has for her fur-baby that propelled her to partner with Purina and get involved with the Purple Leash Project, an campaign that works to make domestic abuse shelters pet-friendly and more welcoming to pet owners in need of refuge.

Domestic abuse and intimate partner violence are major issues in the United States. On average, around 20 people are physically abused by an intimate partner per minute in the U.S., according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. One in three women and one in four men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner. And on any given day, more than 20,000 phone calls are made to domestic violence hotlines nationwide. “I feel like a lot of people don’t realize these statistics,” Hale says. “We probably know many people in our lives that go through this.”

One factor in whether or not a victim of domestic abuse will leave the relationship is if they’re allowed to bring their pet with them. Only 10 percent of domestic abuse shelters across the nation accept pets, according to the Purple Leash Project, and 48 percent of people will stay in an abusive situation or household because of their pets. “That struck a chord with me because I’m obsessed with my dog, and I know that I couldn’t ever be separated from him,” Hale says.

Good-girl roles have been a staple throughout Lucy Hale’s career, from Aria Montgomery on Pretty Little Liars to the titular character on the CW’s Katy Keene. In reality, though, the 31-year-old actress isn’t like the doe-eyed young women she often plays onscreen (although her eyes are startlingly large, even when seen via pixelated box on a Zoom call). As a self-proclaimed “open book”, Hale is more outspoken than her characters, happy to talk about taboo topics like white privilege, sex, and birth control. The star is clearly confident about making decisions that impact her future, and as she tells HelloGiggles, she wants to help other women feel empowered to do the same—especially when it comes to contraception.

“A lot of women go through their lives wanting to make choices about birth control, but they just don’t know where to begin,” Hale, who recently partnered with pharmaceutical company Bayer, says over a Zoom call in August. “I gladly take on the role of getting this conversation started for them. Maybe seeing one of my Instagram posts or hearing me talk about this will encourage them to make really amazing, positive decisions for themselves.”

Lucy Hale is always on the go.

After beginning her day with a cup of coffee and a journaling session, “[my dog], Elvis, and I usually go for a hike,” the actress, 31, says exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly. “Being outside and in nature is one of my favorite things about living in Los Angeles.”

But hitting the trails isn’t the only active thing she does in a day. The Pretty Little Liars alum also hits her Peloton treadmill, which “I love,” she admits. “It came in handy during quarantine.”

According to the A Nice Girl Like You star, staying in shape is something that’s always been important to her.

“I’m one of the weirdos in the world that genuinely likes working out, not from a physical perspective, more from a mental aspect,” the songstress told Harper’s Bazaar Australia in 2018. “It’s a daily part of what I do.”

A large chunk of Hale’s day is dedicated to working too. That means doing press interviews via Zoom, which she says isn’t so bad. “Press from home means you only need to dress up from the waist up,” Hale jokes.

And things are only getting busier for the Tennessee native. Just weeks after her latest show, Katy Keene, was canceled after one season, it was announced that she’ll be starring in and serving as an executive producer for Jesse Harris’ survival thriller, Borrego.

“I knew from the second I read Borrego that I needed to be a part of [Harris’] tale of survival,” Hale shared to Instagram upon the news reveal, before adding that she was “so excited” to start filming.
