Lucy and the cast of Pretty Little Liars is featured in the September issue of Nylon Magazine. Here’s an extract of what Lucy said about her character Aria in the article:

How would you describe Aria?
She’s smart, she’s stubborn, she knows what she wants and will do whatever it takes to get it.

How would Aria describe the show?
“Edgy”.

What has surprised you about the show?
That ABC Family is pushing the limits. We’re jumping over the line and not saying sorry for it.

Why should people watch Pretty Little Liars?
There are a lot of juicy twists that you would never expect. And we’ve got some new romance coming up, a cool wardrobe… And cute boys!

Question: I just watched the summer finale of Pretty Little Liars and loved it! It is such a great show. Please tell me you have some scoop on the second half of season 1.

Ausiello: Aria will still be doing naughty things with her teacher when the soap returns. “The affair with Mr. Fitz is my character’s main storyline, so I assume it will continue and become more complicated,” says Lucy Hale. “It is fun to play, and he’s a hot teacher.” It’s also “nice and illegal,” points out Ian Harding (a.k.a. Mr. Fitz). “I am just glad the actress I play it with is nice and legal in real life. That would be weird and creepy if she wasn’t. And let’s be honest—it’s not like I am 50 or something. I am a pretty young teacher.”

The TCA ceremony is over, and we know the winners! Pretty Little Liars and Lucy won in the following nominations:

Q: Pretty Little Liars has been so successful this summer, what kind of ride has it been?

Lucy Hale: It’s new for all us, I think, starting a new show, all the nerves and excitement about being involved with something great, just going through the success of it all. We just got nominated for a Teen Choice Award. It’s just new experiences and we’re sharing it with lots of great people, so it’s fun.

Q: At the Teen Choice Awards, who are you excited to see?

Lucy Hale: I’m excited to see the fans of Twilight freaking out because I’ve never experienced it firsthand.

Troian Bellisario: What about the fans of Justin Bieber?
